WhatsApp, which is now owned by Facebook and has already built a Snapchat function as in the social network, is apparently also get something similar to Snapchat ephemeral feature to share photos.
The report comes from Mashable, citing information gathered by users who have seen the beta of WhatsApp Android and iOS. According to sources, the new feature is called state, and is among the tabbed chats and calls. Users can leverage their shared images and add text captions.
The function is apparently being tested now, it has no release date at this stage, no formal by any means. However, given the popularity of Snapchat it seems likely that most of the functionality of the application is its way into other popular applications. Especially those belonging to Facebook, whose CEO Mark Zuckerberg, was rejected an acquisition of Snapchat back in 2013.
